Hydrogen sulphide content plays an extremely
important role in a methane extraction programme destined for energy applications.
| Generally, in fact, one considers that
natural gas combustion in an engine cannot take place without rapid wear on mechanical
parts (piston rings, cylinder etc.), if the level of H2S is over 500 ppm. In
the presence of water vapour and at high temperature the hydrogen sulphide is
transformed into extremely corrosive sulphuric acid which tends to dangerously
shorten the life of an installation's moving parts. |
